Their eyes meet and they totally have that connecting moment, only before the young man can get on, the bus drives away! Of course it does, right? Laurie has nothing to go on in terms of her quest to find this guy now, though she’s certain that they’ll stumble across one another again! It all begins, as the title suggests, One Day in December, when Laurie has a total meet cute moment with a pretty young boy she sees from outside of a bus.

This was such a perfect Christmassy read, although it’s not set in its entirety through Christmas, I definitely felt the vibe of the festive season as I was reading this beautiful book! It’s worth noting though that it’s actually set over a couple of years, a decade in fact! So, there’s several Christmases thrown in, really.

One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie.

But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic… and then her bus drives away.Ĭertain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies.
